WHAT I ATE TODAY
During a recent Q&A on Instagram, one lovely follower suggested I do a ‘what I eat in a day’ post and I thought it was such a great idea! I’m all for making nutrition fit into real life and this seems like the perfect way to demonstrate that in practice. Whilst I love reading other people’s ‘my day on a plate’ features, sometimes they can feel a bit elitist (especially when nutritionists do them) - I totally get that. For that reason I wanted to give a really unfiltered account of everything I ate and how it fits into my day. This is exactly what I had, with no special adjustments because I was posting it. It’s only a snapshot of my diet so I’ll be posting more like this in the upcoming weeks. Any comments of suggestions - let me know in the comments below!
8.30am - oat milk latte
9am - smoothie including 1/2 frozen banana, 1 scoop vegan chocolate protein powder (I used SunWarrior), 1/2tsp cacao powder, 1/4 avocado, 1 glass almond milk, 1tsp The Nue Co. skin food powder & a sprinkle of cinnamon
11am- another oak milk latte (usually I’d just have one of these a day but I had a mid-morning meeting and fancied one)
1pm - Lentil, beetroot, rocket & goat’s cheese salad from Gail’s
2pm - Pukka liquorice and peppermint tea
4pm - Apple and cashew butter
7pm - Mexican stew (I kind of threw everything in and hoped for the best! This was also great as left overs the next day too) - onions, carrots, celery, tomatoes, peppers, black beans, sweetcorn, loads of spices, & vegetable stock served with corn chips, guacamole, lime & coriander
7.30pm - 3x rows of Green and Black’s almond milk chocolate (yes, dark chocolate is the healthier option, but to be honest I prefer milk so having a little bit of what I actually want usually means I don’t overindulge)
8pm - Pukka liquorice and peppermint tea
I also drank lots of filtered water throughout the day. I don’t necessarily count how many glasses but I regularly sip throughout the day.
