SOUR CHERRY & CHOCOLATE SMOOTHIE RECIPE

Yep, this tastes as delicious as it sounds! I really love the taste of cherries and chocolate together and it works so well in a smoothie. Sour cherries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, making them a great skin food as they protect against free radical damage, are anti-inflammatory and assist in collagen synthesis. They're different to the sweet cherries native to the UK so I'd advise buying frozen from a health food store (I'm a big believer in eating local and seasonally but sometimes I make exceptions)...

INGREDIENTS

5 frozen sour cherries

1 frozen banana

1 tsp cacao powder

1 scoop chocolate vegan protein powder

1 glass almond milk

1 tsp almond butter

1/4 avocado

1 tsp bee pollen or cacao nibs (optional)

METHOD

Add all ingredients (apart from the bee pollen/cacao nibs) to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Serve with topping of choice. Best served immediately.
